Jan 30, 2025
Welcome to Maven Musings! I'm thrilled to connect with you. Biweekly, we’ll discuss Global inclusivity, technology, women’s empowerment, and healthy workplace culture through my unique and joyful lens. Join me on a journey of inspiration, positivity, and creativity.
As we embark on the new year, I find myself reflecting on the importance of purpose and the lessons it brings, especially in times of uncertainty. Rediscovering your "why" is more than just a process—it’s a way to ground yourself in the values and passions that guide you forward.
Looking back at 2024, I’m reminded of how pivotal it is to stay anchored to your purpose, even when the road feels less than clear. The year’s triumphs and challenges alike have taught me the importance of showing up intentionally, lifting others, and aligning my efforts with what truly matters.
Purpose in Action: A Personal Journey
Purpose has always been my compass. It’s what motivates me to lead, create, and connect with others. This year, I had the privilege of travelling to share my voice, from bustling conferences to quieter mentorship circles. Each destination and interaction reminded me of the transformative power of uplifting others and fostering inclusivity.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey has been championing young women and emerging leaders. In conversations and on stages, I saw their drive, their courage, and the untapped potential waiting to be nurtured. Witnessing their light reaffirmed that our work—mentoring, encouraging, opening doors—is never in vain. Together, we are shaping a brighter future, built on connection and shared purpose.
Navigating the Challenges of “Why”
But purpose isn’t always easy. It requires reflection, resilience, and the courage to confront doubt. There were moments this year when I questioned whether my efforts were enough. Whether in the face of societal challenges or personal setbacks, purpose felt, at times, elusive.
In these moments, I was reminded that living with intention isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up, even when you feel uncertain, and trusting that your actions—however small—contribute to the greater good.
This mindset helped me reframe setbacks as lessons and resistance as an opportunity to build strength. Purpose became less about achieving and more about being present, intentional, and empathetic.
Rediscovering Your Why: A Guide for the New Year
If you’ve found yourself disconnected from your purpose, know that it’s a natural part of growth. Here are a few ways to help rediscover your "why" as we move into 2025:
- Reflect on What Matters Most: What brings you joy? What energises you? Make time to explore the passions and values that define your sense of purpose.
- Find Strength in Your Community: Surround yourself with people who inspire, uplift, and challenge you. Purpose flourishes when nurtured through connection.
- Set Intentions Over Resolutions: Instead of rigid goals, focus on intentions that align with your values. These will guide your decisions and actions throughout the year.
- Embrace Growth Through Discomfort: Purpose isn’t static; it evolves. Allow yourself to grow through challenges and lean into the lessons they bring.
- Celebrate the Journey: Acknowledge your progress, no matter how small. Purpose is as much about the path you take as the destination you’re striving toward.
Purpose as a Work in Progress
Rediscovering your "why" isn’t a one-time exercise. It’s a lifelong commitment to listening to yourself, making intentional choices, and staying open to change. As I’ve learned, it also means setting boundaries and prioritising the things that truly matter.
This past year, I’ve worked on valuing progress over perfection—something that doesn’t always come naturally to me. I’ve also learned to say “no” without guilt and “yes” with full intention, recognising that alignment with my purpose requires space and clarity. It’s a work in progress, but one worth pursuing daily.
Looking Ahead with Gratitude and Intention
As we step into 2025, I carry the lessons of this past year with gratitude. Gratitude for the people I’ve met, the moments of connection, and the opportunities to grow. Gratitude for the challenges that revealed new strengths and the joy of being part of a supportive and loving community.
Rediscovering your "why" isn’t about having it all figured out—it’s about recognising that who you are and what you bring is already enough.
