Pour Some Sugar on Me — Glazed, Hot Comedy

Pour Some Sugar on Me — Glazed, Hot Comedy

Another epic night seeing comedy in Los Angeles. To be glazed, overlaid with a smooth, shiny surface. Yes, that is exactly what Mike Glazer brings to the stage during his monthly comedy cornucopia called Glazed at The Hollywood Improv (The Lab) straight up smooth and shiny goodness. Glazed is like a perfect donut. Sweet, sugary, where you feel a little dirty, a little shy that you maybe ate two or three of those sinful bad boys. (Your secret is safe with me, go ahead have one more. Cause they are DELICIOUS). Third Thursday of the month for the next helping of yum.

As a lover of comic books, graphic novels, artists, superheroes movies and TV series I’m giddy about being involved with this project. Who hasn’t spun around like Wonder Woman as a young girl or maybe, um, yesterday? To see her and so many other brilliant superheroes in print, in cool TV series and on the big screen bringing justice to the world makes my heart sing.

Thrilled to announce that I’m moderating my first education/how to panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con with an amazing group of panelists.

My baseline is joy. But we all have bad days, and things that hurt in our hearts. Fear, toxicity, anger, chronic pain, longing, disappointment, childhood trauma, and adult trauma.

We don’t talk about these things enough. We call them “things”, we let them sit and dwell; we let them fester and make us sick, breed disease, perpetuate self-loathing and catalyze into a world of overmedication, obesity, crime, alcoholism, drug addiction, violence, shame, and suicide.

You never know what is behind someone’s smiling eyes. I try hard to lead with keeping that in mind always.

Art Amplifies. Art Escalates. Art Provokes. Art Unifies.

Drinking in Damaged, Shepard Fairey’s solo show in Los Angeles at sunset the other night filled me with so much glee (and jumping up and down) that I made the security guards/staff giggle. I’ve followed and loved Shepard’s art from afar for years. My love of street art is well documented, and I now seem to live in its mecca in Venice/Marina in Los Angeles.

The grape girl and I have been together for a long while. She’s stood in many a yard watching over us. She was a gift to me from Jim. Perfect for wine country.

I’ve always loved her. And all the gnomes, fairies, angels, whirligigs, reflectors and chimes we’ve had over the years.
