Day 25 — Book Writing/Birthday Month

The letter. A lost art.

Hand written letters, cards, & notes.

I swear I just hate that we’ve lost this

I LOVE this site

I find a lot of inspiration here.

I still write cards and notes.

I am a little old-fashioned

About certain things.

I used to correspond with a number

Of people via letter.

Both Grandmothers, Aunt Mary,

My cousin Stacey, Amber, pen pals.

Lots of friends and I love sending

Postcards to people from exotic places.

I guess texting and the emoji

Have replaced a good old letter.

Holiday cards are waning too.

I do love getting a letter in the mail still.

My Mom and I still do that for each other

And it’s one of my favorite things.

I could not buy my Mom another thing

But if I don’t send her a card, there

Is serious trouble.

I met a guy this week because he had

A beautiful L tattooed on his arm in cursive

And I couldn’t help but reach out and trace it.

The lost art of cursive writing.

Sonnet 18 written out long hand is one of my favorites.

I need to do that more.

It feels good to write.

Something fluid about it

Something good.

Wait a minute Mr Postman.

Don’t you have a letter for me?

Please Mister Postman look and see

Is there a letter oh yeah in your bag for me?

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;

Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Thank you for giving that little heart below a nudge if you liked this. :)
