Road Warrior Meetings of Chance

Day 10, 30-day #candleflame challenge.

“As essence turns to ocean,/the particles glisten./

Watch how in this candleflame instant/blaze all the moments you have lived.”

~Rumi

I like elegant women he said.

I like your hat, you look very pretty.

In my country, we think women are queens

And should be treated as such.

I find most of the time my Lyft or taxi drivers are on point.

And some of the most interesting people I meet.

I recently read Gloria Steinem’s My Life on the Road

(thank you Julia)

Being a road warrior myself I found many things

that she has experienced to be true for me.

She has an entire chapter on taxi rides that I loved.

She says, “The road is messy in the way that real life is messy. It leads us out of denial and into reality, out of theory and into practice, out of caution and into action, out of statistics and into stories — in short, out of our heads and into our hearts.”

Everyone has a story.

Everyone does many things.

Everyone seems to be trying hard to do good in this world.

Everyone has a messy, beautiful life.

In one day this week I met:

A marketer who is starting his career, and is shy about putting his thoughts into the world and wants to be a Heart Centered Business Coach. He was listening to Krishnamurti and had him turn it back on so we could listen. Amazing.

His business card reads: I am here to master love.

I turned him on to medium.com and told him I would bug him about posting.

A Turkish, Jordanian gentlemen who drives in a suit out of respect of his passengers.

He gave me a lovely tour of all the downtown DC buildings.

And man from West Africa Mauritania who works on trade agreements and marine conservation, we talked food, coastlines and elegant women.

These chance (or are they)

meetings feed my love of story, connecting people

and wanderlust fully.

Next time you are being driven somewhere.

Say hello, you never know who you are going to meet.

Thank you for giving that little heart below a nudge if you liked this. :)
