Day 6, June 2016, #BornWithWings Writing Challenge - Manners

Day 6, June 2016, 30-day #‎bornwithwings‬ writing challenge. Inspired by this excerpt of a poem by Rumi:

"You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don't. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly."

Manners.

They are an necessity.

They are not guidelines, they are rules.

Just because one has a bad day, there is no need to take it out on someone else, especially in public. And especially someone who is serving you.

I travel a lot and so I see so very much of this.

Full disclosure I too have been a culprit in the past.

But rudeness drives me nuts.

Carelessness breeds the stuff of hate and even wars.

The concept of Pay It Forward isn't hokey it's a good thing.

Consideration takes a moment.

Everyone has bad days. And everyone has a story you don't know.

I find that everyone is simply trying to make it through.

A smile can light up almost any situation.

As does a please and a thank you.

No one is too busy for that.

I don't care who you are.

Standing in line sucks but waiting on sourpuss people in line sucks worse.

As a bank teller in Dallas told me years ago. "Honey turn that frown upside down, you know why? Cause today is fixin to be tomorrow".

She was right.
