Day 5, June 2016, 30-day #bornwithwings writing challenge. Inspired by this excerpt of a poem by Rumi:
"You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don't. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly."
I love to dance. I move through my life in constant motion and I make a lot of sounds.
I sing I giggle I make noises with my mouth.
I hum when I eat something I really like.
"You went to school to learn how to be dramatic" thank you Tim Waddle.
My own internal entertainer and bringer of joy doesn't shut off very often.
I mean I giggle and nom nom in my sleep. Ok I snore a little too.
I hope I'm an optimist, I think I am. I like that word.
And have learned that the two steps forward and one step back saying is true.
So maybe life is about doing the Cha-Cha or maybe for some it's a samba or a salsa.
Either way I like the notion of optimism. And I know how hard that can be.
There is little optimism when your heart gets ripped out of your chest from loss.
From death to break ups to injury/sickness or what we deem failure in our heads.
All of it makes it hard to do anything remotely positive.
Or believe in optimism.
The thing that is lovely is that the steps and music of joy are always waiting for you.
When you are ready to hear them.
And the reminders seem to always come from the most random places.
Sometimes it's a sign in a bar.
So pay attention and be open.
It's always around the corner.
