Day 4, June 2016, #BornWithWings writing challenge - Expectations

Day 4, June 2016, #BornWithWings writing challenge. Inspired by this excerpt of a poem by Rumi:

"You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don't. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly."

A strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future.

Some say the secret to happiness is to lower your expectations.

It's kinda like assumptions. Never assume. Because it makes an ass out of u and me.

I do think that people rise to the occasion especially when it's important, in times of strife.

But it's the every day moments of goodness and kindness that restore my faith in humanity over and over.

Unexpected joy, love, surprise.

Things that take your breath away.

The truth lies in the center of things and there are so many layers sometimes to get to the core of something.

I do like peeling the onion. Actually I really like peeling a Lychee fruit, damn those things are delicious.

If you get rid of expectations and assumptions? What do you have.

Especially when you ride the line of adventuresome planner?

Maybe you are never disappointed.

Maybe serendipity simply continues as usual and you lean into it even more than you already do.

Maybe one needs to rely on ones self the most.

Maybe all the things you thought are still true but will work out, just through a different path, in its own time.

This conundrum I don't have the answer to, but I keep noodling about it.

I expect I'll figure it out.

I assume some day.

Or not.

See what I did there? Haha.
