Day 14, June 2016, #BornWithWingsWriting Challenge - Bats

Day 14, June 2016, 30-day #‎bornwithwings‬ writing challenge.

The sun has set and it is now dusk.

A light blue dusts the sky against the dark shadows of the 250 year old oak and 200 year old Monterey Pine in my yard.

I'm 7,000 steps in walking around the pool and I decide to leap into the oversized bean bag/love sac for a minute to watch the bats.

They come out every night at this time.

I love watching them.

This is the first time I've been alone today. (Correction) the first time I've sat down and not been firing my brain pistons, talking on the phone, typing or answering a question on IM.

Feels good.

Pierre (my dog) and I share the bean bag and stare off into the cacophony of night sounds around us.

I keep coming back to this quote from today:

The Universe is like GPS.
You make a wrong turn,
It's just going to recalculate.

I love that notion.

I watched a video today of Marianne Williamson, activist, author, speaker (a favorite) Talking about: Bereavement. Depression. Sadness. Grief.

She's the one who wrote The Deepest Fear poem that I love. That many love. (the one some attribute to Nelson Mandela).
Tis below.

She is flipping unbelievable. Cuts to the chase, no B.S.

I love her.

Are you getting what you need?
No, are you giving all you have?

The video is long but very cool, here if you want to watch…/marianne-williamson-spiritual…/

I can't stop thinking about the video and the notion of "showing up'

When people need you.

Asking them about the hard things.

Checking in on them.

A quick hello, poke, smiley face.

I do that. And I've found that most people do want to talk.

And are happy to know someone is thinking about them.

That you don't have to pretend like everything is okay.

I think if we did talk more to each other,
we'd get through things faster.

That's the theory anyway…

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
